Whats the fastest you've been in your S70?
As my first real post, I am curious what everyone has hit speed wise in their S70. I have taken mine alittle over 130 and it was very smooth and stable.
My previous car a 94 850 Turbo shifted into overdrive at 127 and then went over 130 before I shut it down. Next thing you know red lights were flashing behind me. I thought I was going to jail. Cop only clocked me at 82 in a 65 and I said thank you w/o any sacarsm at all. That was in the middle of Kansas and the cop was going the opposite direction when he saw me and U turned and came up behind me. Luckily I had really shut down.
No but had my Mustang up to about 125 and it felt like I was floating on air.
Scared the S*** out of me.
Haven't tried lately it will handle better now that it is dropped about 2 inches more than it was before.

I had my Honda up to 114 with a few friends in it. Boy was that stupid. I haven't gone in triple digits since. I have had too many bad things happen at slower speeds that 100+ scares me. Fear of deer, cops, and just something giving out (axle or tire) that its not worth it to me. I had an axle break on me in my Honda, but I was only coasting. Hit a couple of deer - they're prevelent around here. Cops, they're prevelent too.

Anyone had a Japanese car over 110?

That was around 2001 so the Eclipse was fairly new and it felt strong and firm. I was around 4500-5000 rpms with the red line at 7000. I'm not sure what it would top out at, but that was fast enough for me. (I had my brother in the car and I think he was a bit scared, but also wanted to show his brother-in-law up.)
I try not to drive past 90 these days, I've gotten the Volvo up to 100mph. which is fast enough for me.
But I do have an Eclipse as well and I've gotten that up to 125mph.
Just like Fast Ride said its not worth it though, anything can and will happen. (Murphy's Law)

just so you know the regular s70 and gl and glt (im not sure about the R and t-5) are electronically governed/limited so they can not go over 127 which ive hit but look again for all of you saying you hit upper of 130 140
Greco i hate to tell you but it's not exactly difficult to havethe electronic limit removed, and mine being the low powered 2.5 10v can easily do 127 on a motorway, and it does go faster.
Ive got an 00 V70R, that Ive gotten the needle buried with several times... mostly on I95 thru SC.... Probably not the best idea... but very possible.
It wont let me load a picture of my speedo at 120 for some reason.....
After I took a pic @120 it shifted into to top gear and kept on going. I slowed it down at about 125, because I had a turn up ahead. My roof racks made a lot of wind noise at that speed. haha

I had a 98 Acura TL which is a Japanese car and I would cruise to my job about 25 miles away at 110 five days a week and it felt very safe, and had it up to 145 a couple times. It's moved on though, R.I.P dear TL. Almost as stable as my 99 S70 at high speeds, but only had it up to 125 or so, mainly cause Volvo's cost more to fix if they break. I was with a friend that got his 85 trans am quickly up to 140 and I thought we were going to float off the road after 110. I had to tell him to let off which I never thought I would say that to someone. Not cool, but he thought it handled great.
The first carI bought for myself was a 69 Chevy Malibu. It had oversize tires on it which through off the speedometer, so when it read about 50 it was really going about 60. Which means 100 means 120. Well I had it reading 117 one time and thought the car was going to fly off the road. It felt so unsafe that I never went over 100 again until I got my 94 850 Turbo. The one time I took it over 120 it felt like it was being sucked down to the road as opposed to floating off the road. Definitely has great aerodynamics.
