Yes the dealer has that information on file. It's stored under the VIN number and the serial number of the radio. Call your local dealer and they should give it to you. You may have to prove you own the car.

I always used to write it on top of the radio after I got a code - have you looked there?

Also some people write them under the hood - so if you see a random set of 4 or 6 digits written in magic marker under the hood - that could be it.

also see if anything is in the glove box - ie written in the owners manual, if the factory card is stashed in the paperwork. Not sure if the serial number on the radio is good enough but the VIN will work assuming its the original radio to the car.

the part number, serial number and model of radio is needed to find the code that way. Have had to get hundreds or code back when those were popular - every time you disconnected or replaced a battery you have to get a code.

I know the dealer will work with a VIN. Seems counter-intuitive that an anti-theft code could be gained by knowning the serial number stamped on the unit :-) Then again, not too many people found the code to be a strong deterrent. Curious if anybody else has had success getting a code based on the radio's model/serial number. Lots of Ebay radios - some that say you need to provide your own code...

A dealer I used for years insisted on the radio serial number - they said it was easier to find. I complained because It was a pain sometimes to pull the radios out of 240s to get the serial number. (you had to take the glovebox out to get to the rear mount) Maybe it was more accurate, if the tuners had been changed during the life of the car.
