Default Wagon lift gate struts?

My lift gate / tail gate is starting to sag so I need to replace the struts. How do I access them and are they any different as in shorter or anything?

I'm thinking on that model that it was a spring steel torsion bar in the roof that provided the support. That job requires lowering the headliner.

Interesting. If that's it I may go to PnP and have a look before I tear into mine.

I think the earlier wagons had the torsion bar spring but the later ones had the lift struts.
