I have the 1995 850 turbo, B5234T engine, can anyone help me with the type of turbo in this engine ie: Turbo number and where I might buy the refurb kit I need.

I don't know how much a refurb kit is, but you could probably just find a used 13G turbo in working condition for roughly the same price, give or take.

not sure how much you know about turbo's. but if you do a rebuild on it you need to re-balance the shaft... its a job for a pro, not a joe.

He is right, it'd be a lot safer to just replace the turbo, they're really easy find if you search the for sale threads and eBay.

I see the kits on Ebay for about $80.00 but you may want to look into getting the turbo rebuilt professionally and DIY remove & install. I sent mine in yesterday to an outfit in Ohio and for $325 they do a complete rebuild. Thats about the standard price I found on my web searches. It is pretty hairy trying to take one apart and it will cost you alot to find a refurbished one more like $500 - $600. It should only take turbo rebuilder 2 days to get it done and ship back.

That's a lot, especially since you can find 15G turbos for less with no to very minimal shaft play. You probably could have upgraded to a 16T for around 325.

Default Turbo Costs

So where are you finding completely rebuilt / new 15G-16G Turbo's for less than $325.00 with 1 year warranty? Please share with the forum as you seem to be in the know.

here's a 15G 200 shipped, just need new housing which costs about 50 bucks at most, I got a straight housing for my 15G which is an upgrade from the conical housing for 35 bucks.

How is that? Or do you want more? Because I'm sure I could find some more.

" So where can you find rebuilt or new Volvo 15G - 16 G Turbo's with 1 year warranty for less than $325.00. Please share with the forum as you seem to be in the know. "

And they're not Volvo turbos, they're Mitsubishi turbos and any TD04 will work in these cars, they don't necessarily have to be from a Volvo. And all of these were less than the 325 you paid to have a 15G rebuilt. 16T not G.

They may be easy to rebuild, but you have to make sure the shaft is exactly balanced, which you may be able to do, it would just be a lot safer to have a pro do it.

This is all used stuff. I haven't found any complete new or / rebuilt with warranty at $325.00. Better to get your own rebuilt then to buy somone's used / condition unknown turbo. But thats the way I roll.

To each his own. There's no way that I would pay 325 dollars to have a turbo rebuilt when for a hundred dollars less you can buy the same turbo, or upgrade for that fact, and get a turbo that will last just as long. And the condition is not unknown, all you have to do is take off the housing, and then BAM, you know what kind of shape your turbo is in. 214,000 miles and my turbo has no shaft play, a turbo with 100,000 miles is just starting to be broken in for me.
