Hey firefighter,there are several places(marques)that do an cold air intake for the 850,take a bit of time and searcht the internet)I for instance got an BMC (carbon)unit,a bit deerer than most but one of the best out there(so i've heard)

the problem that I have with the IPD kit is that it does nothing to address the craptastic air intake hose that our cars come with. That corrugated plastic tube REALLY screws up your air flow through the intake. I'm having a local machine shop make me a mandrel bent aluminum tube for my air intake, and connecting it to the turbo via silicone coupler. I also plan to move the battery back to where the stock airbox is and then will move the filter forward to the point where I don't need the tube that attaches to the core support.

Yeah, but mine wont go behind the battery, mine is going to go in front of the battery, and the battery will be back where the stock airbox is. I'm getting a Braille battery - they're about the size of a motorcycle battery, but have the same, if not more cold cranking amps and reserve capacity than a standard car battery. A friend of mine at tire rack can get me one for about 100 bucks.

Here is mine, cost me $40 but I dont remember the exact parts....searching....will post what I find. Make sure when you buy the J-pipe that you get the tightest bend you can find.
Correction....$48, I found an old post on it. Just measure the turbo inlet and the back of the MAF sensor then get silicone connections for both and decide what size pipe you want.

I think that is just the intake hose only, that would connect to the side of the heat sheild. I would like to see pictures of how you installed that, or at least the routing. I imagine the low end of the j-pipe is down at the front air dam, right? I do aggree though, that the stock, corregated intake looks restrictive, and the location of the battery is unfortunate (trying to get cold air into a tight space where the battery lives seems counter-intuitive).
