water cooled?

RE: water cooled?
To answer Jim KW's question as to what cars besides the old VW's and Porsches that are air cooled, maybe I am the only one to remember the 60-69 Chevrolet Corvair. They were built back when GM actually had some engineers that were not afriad to try something new. In fact the 62 Corvair Spyder was the fisrt air cooled production turbocharged car on the road. Too bad they got an undeserved reputation from an overzelous Ralph Nader

That's true. I remember the Corvair quite well. The Monza Spider was fairly fast, and they also came in a nice little convertible. Do you remember Chrysler's answer to the VW beetle? It was called a Simca, and you could buy one brand new for $1200. My brother had a red one and my Dad had a black one.

It may be too late & unnecessary for this reply, but the turbocharger itself is water-cooled; small diameter coolant passages are provided, and the air entering the intake, afterpassing through the turbine, is air-to-air cooled by the intercooler.
The best protection for the turbocharger is to keep engine oil condition & level at optimum.
Is it just mewho wish there was a separate temp gage for the turbocharger on 850's?
