water on floorboard
A while back I gave my daughter my old 1995 Volvo 850 non turbo with 130,000 miles. She called me today and told me that there was water on the passenger floorboard. I seem to recall that that is a sign of a bad heater core. If this is the case is it ok to continue to drive the car? Will it overheat? What will be the consequences if she continues to drive it? She's a college student and it may be a few days before I can go visit her and take care of getting it fixed for her. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yep, right on time; mine went out 138K; it's also a '95.
Here's what you need:

If your halfway mechanically inclined, it's not too bad at all. Let us know how you make out.
As far as driving it, it really depends on how fast it is leaking out. It's losing coolant into the cabin area so she needs to keep H2O with her to top it up every day. Also keep in mind she is breathing in ethylene glycol fumes until this is repaired and the interior is cleaned up; not exactly great for one's health...
