Default Weak Key FOB, Just Me?

95 850 turbo

Is this what all 850 owners experience or is it just me. My FOB doesn't work unless I'm practically holding it right up to the side windows of the car (it won't even work through the rear) and forget even trying 10 feet away. I've replaced the battery but it didn't help. Is there any way to boost the signal or reception like on my Prelude. OR can the antenna/receiver be moved-by the way where is the receiver located at?

Sounds wierd, but try this; hold it under your chin when you press the button, button facing you. It seems to extend my range quite a bit.

....What the heck? I thought you might have been joking but it does actually work! I unlocked/locked the car from inside my house with it under my chin, then standing in the exact same place without it under my chin it wouldn't work. Thanks for the unusual but good tip.

The way it works is you hold it under your chin and can have your mouth open and it some how uses your body as an antenna. Don't know really how it works but it does. Kind of like using a phone to unlock a car.

Kind of like when Gilligan was getting the radio stations through his fillings in his mouth I guess.

as per your original question...

Mine has always been weak as hell... new or old battery.

Just ordered a universal learining remote that will control the lock/unlock and my garage door opener. I hope the fugger works.

I have a remote for each of my cars and they will work as far as 20 feet away with no problem whatsoever. Have not tried the under the chin thing yet to see if they will work further away though.
