Unhappy Weird electrical/dying issue.

My 850TW just started having this issue where, almost always in a turn, the car stalls, and nearly or sometimes, fully dies. I thought it might be the infamous fuel pump relay, but I have swapped that out and it still is doing it. Like I said, it is almost always when the steering wheel is turning. Is there something back there that could be shorting out causing the whole car to just die?

I have not pulled codes lately, but before that it was O2 sensor out.

Any advice or thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks!

Does it happen in only one direction, right turns or left or does it happen during both ??

Is your battery loose in it's tray or held down ??

It seems to happen more often to the left, though it has happened on the right. Speed doesn't seem to play an issue, just the steering wheel turning.

The battery is secured down and not moving around as well.

I had a problem with mine cutting out on right turns but at the time I didn't have the battery secured and unknown to me one of the positive studs was loose and would make intermittent contact when stressed.

So much for that Idea but you could always check the terminals and make sure they are reasonably tight.

That is probably worth visiting just to be sure since it seems like something that could be. I haven't heard of the car completely stalling though when a battery is pulled, or maybe I am not thinking straight. Been a long few days getting ready to drive this wagon to Alaska! :-)

You are thinking straight and clear EXCEPT for Volvo .....

On my positive battery terminal there are two nuts. One nut actually tightens the cable to the post of the battery but the other tightens the electrical feeds to the cable end. Since they are straight across from each other I ASSUMED they were connected and tightening either would tighten the whole assembly down, NOT.

I've never seen that type of set up before. So yes the cable can feel tight to the battery but the other side can be loose and interrupt power to the fuse box dropping the ignition or fuel pump or ...

I did a battery at night and didn't catch it at first. Took a couple times dieing on me to finally figure it out.

Maybe a bad fuel pump, just throwing that out there, unless you have no problem starting it again right after it stalls out.

Had a fuel pump that vapor locked, what a pain in the rear trying to drive that home.
