Default What else should I do, with the transmission...

I'm about to replace the transmission in my '95 850 and was wondering what else should I expect or go ahead and do since I plan to keep the car another 10 years?

I'm thinking about a rear main seal, subframe mounts, and stuff like that. What should I expect or go ahead and do?

You could shim the accumulator for firmer shifts. Or install an aftermarket Transm Temp gauge.

Rear seal is always a good idea when there, I would also thoroughly flush trans cooler and consider putting an extra external cooler on.
If you have the budget, run synthetic trans fluid. I also install inline filters on the cooler lines on my autos, catch a lot of fine stuff.

Not sure how long the tranny that I have has been sitting. I think I'm going to drive it about 1000 miles then change the fluid, then drive it 5000 miles then change the fluid again, with the synthetic.

I could NOT resist so I went by the inde Volvo shop today to see what else I could get my hands on and decided to pick up a "rear main seal". I actually never seen one before and thought they were similar to a water pump gasket or something but it is a crank shaft seal. Does it matter what type of seal it is? I know people say only put Volvo seals on the cam shafts.
