Can you take a second shot from a little further back?

 

An aluminium tube, kinda like a dryer vent thing. I believe Volvo made it to send heat back to the air box to keep it from icing up.

 

yeah, thats what it is. i see them missing more often than not on cars.

yeah i think its called a thermostatic air cleaner, it apparently puts warm air from the exhaust to the intake so it will produce less emissions on a cold start. a good friend told me, so this shouldnt be something to really about, i hope
