V70 goes Poof?
I am considering buying a 99 V70 with 80k for VERY cheap that was lightly flooded due to Hurricane Katrina. The water came up just over the floorboards, and drove fine for months after, including long trips of over 1000 miles. The owner claims that it went "poof", and stopped running. They have no car knowledge, and cannot get insurance money for it so they are selling for VERY cheap (less than $1,000).
Is this worth it, even as a fixer-upper? I have never owned a Volvo, but have a lot of experience with working on VW/Audi. Could the problem be related to the water coming over the floorboards, or could it be a timing belt (not sure if this is an interference motor). Are there a lot of common problems with this model, year, and mileage?
Thanks in advance.

It is an inertference motor if the belt broke it will need Valves or even a head.
The 99's were kind of Junk. First year for a networked car.
Computers might have gotten fried from the water.
But look at the common first. (timing belt).
But for less than $1000.00 I would even buy it.
