I just picked up a 96 850 and it has been fun to say the least. I keep finding small things to fix to make it perfect.

This time around I have been looking to fix the interior lights. The foot well and red door lights work with any of the doors open, so I know its not the door switches. All the overhead lights work when you manually turn them on with their respective switches. BUT the overhead lights wont come on when the doors are opened.

I started digging around looking under the drivers dash, and I found a jumper that is not factory, what is supposed to go here?


OH, and one more thing to throw into the mix. My parking lights don't flash when I press the lock/unlock on the key fob.

I assume this is supposed to be a relay for all these functions, but what is it called?

Does the car have fog lights? Volvo used one "relay", which is green, that is just a jumper internally. It may be somebody added fog lights to the car and they knew enough to know how the original wiring actually worked.

 

That's it! The car does have fogs,. But they are not factory.

This doesn't solve my interior light issue, the search continues.
