I have an 97 850 GLT with turbo and there is a sensor of some sort hanging down the front side of the engine. It is heavy, with a mounting hole, brass, and when you shake it it rattles. It seems like it could be an accelerometer, maybe for the air bags? What is it and where does it mount?

If it were an airbag sensor, flopping around loose like that, the airbags would have deployed already That sensor is part of the airbag control module, and for a good reason.
