will 215 65 R16 fit on 1996 850 sedan?

 

Probably not. Going to be to wide and too tall so it rub quite a bit. I think the correct size is 205 50 R16.

I have the standard 205/50/16s, my old michelins were fine but since I had Federals put on the left tyre rubs on the guard at full lock. However, for anyone that knows Federal tires they are actually slightly wider, they have a large edge that overlaps the wheel rim, I guess to stop curbing the rim, fantastic tyres actually.

But certainly yeah, larger ones would rub.

Jim, how about yours though, aren't they 17s on your one? I have the standard 5 spoke alloys on the 850T, does the R model have different guards and suspension?

 

Yes what I have on there now are 17's. I have a set of 15's and a set of 16's for it also. I think the R sits a little lower and has a little stiffer suspension than the T5. I do get some rubbing with the 17's when I turn the wheel all the way. Not bad though. What cool was talking about putting on would be quite a bit bigger than the standar 16's though.

 

Oh yeah I know, I just just wondering cos my standard size wheels rub I expected yours being 17 would. As I said before mine are standard size but have a wider lip causing them to rub on the left side at full lock, whereas my michelins without the big lip did not, mainly just wondering if your guards were different.

As for the 215 tires, if my wider than normal 205s rub then 215s definetly will.
