Yellow t-5r rarity by numbers
This thread is kind of stuck, that's why I find it so easily.
If you hit the HOT TOPICS - DIY thread, it's the last link in the list, on the first post.
When I seen my first yellow wagon for sale on AutoTradder it sold in less than 3 hours. The 2nd one I seen had a dirty carfax and the price was driven up from $6,500 to $8,200 in just a few days. The car needed work but wasn't to bad with 198,000 on the clock. It was imported here from Germany with 114,000 on the clock in just 3 years.
Since then I have seen a couple of yellow wagons sold, one on eBay, one in MO and the other in TX. I think about 4 per year sell.
The rarest is the Green Wagon. Less than 10 special ordered and sold in the US. The Uni-corn of Volvo's.

Google is your friend: "green t5r"

In '95 they were introduced in black, green, and the yellow. Not sure but maybe 4,500 were sold world wide, no green were shipped to the US unless it was special ordered. To my knowledge no sedans were ordered, only a few wagons. Then in '96 6,000 were made with red and white added and a few minor changes. Still no green for USA.

I know of ONE green t-5r in the us.. The owner of Deel Volvo / Volkswagen down here in miami. He has a green T-5R in his garage on key Biscayne with 7000 original miles. Ill grab some pics next time I see it
last time i spoke to him he was about to get it transported to VCNA in Jersey for their open hose and then ship it back.
His story behind it was there were 3 total brought to the US and ALL were special ordered by dealership OWNERS. but this I can not confirm
There is one owned by a dealership owner in Cali, one owned by him, and the other was totaled in texas during a hurricane some years ago.
He has a huge collection of T-5R and 850 racing memorabilia. he even has a signed Rydell helmet.
i just bought this from him.

Im working out a deal with him for his duplicate autoart & Minichamps collection still sealed in the boxes.. Every single 850 BTCC, T-5R, and R model ever made.. even the 1/43 scale btcc models and the Slot Cars too..
I got him down to $1000 but im trying to get him to $700 on a trade for some vintage kawasaki parts he need for one of his bikes...

I am thinking about getting my black salvage t5-r painted olive green once I get everything else fixed on it. That's a long ways away though
rspi there are 39 yellows you said that were imported to the us? and that's if none have been lost. Japan got the highest amount of yellow T5-R's out of any country, bastards.
I honestly prefer wagons over the sedans, and my wife knows if I ever find one for sale ill buy it, she said as long as she doesn't starve. Haha
There was a BTCC replica R car that was for sale about a month ago I saw up north on craigslist.
Matty if you ever get all of that should definitely post pictures, I dream about seeing that kind of volvo stuff. I just have a yellow sedan and wagon autoart.

I prefer my wagon over my sedan too. Do you notice that they feel differently?
Here is a yellow on eBay in Omaha, Nebraska for $6 buy it now w/145K miles.
Volvo : 850 T5R in Volvo | eBay Motors

@ Matt: I know for a fact that there were at least 9 green wagons shipped here. I almost purchased one 3 years ago in Kansas City. I believe it's still in the area. I also seen a picture taken in CA with 3 of them in the picture.
@ Matt: Is the one in the Keys a sedan or wagon?
@ Brian: There were 185 yellows shipped to the USA. I know of another 3 that were imported after the initial shipment. Out of the standard shipment, 150 were sedans and 35 were wagons. That info is on the sheet on the first page of this thread. I believe that there are about 33 yellow wagons left and about 45 black wagons.

78 wagons left, now I just need to find one, I wasn't sure the exact number of wagons left, I remember seeing a post from you awhile back rspi stating the exact numbers of T5-R's in the US but couldn't find it earlier.
If you had the chance to get a yellow rspi would you get it? Or are you content with the black one?
