Your Volvo 850 won't start??
I have a 1994 Volvo 850,non turbo 5 cyl. One day early this winter, after not having driven the car for 2 days, I thought I'd start it & let it run a few minutes to charge the battery, etc.
I let it run for onlya minute or so before shutting it down.
The next day I went to start it,& it just spun and spun, not catching or even trying to catch. It gave the impression of no spark, though I neglected to check for it. I decided (foolishly) that it must have been an ignition module,ECU,etc.
Come to find out,a wonderfully honest mechanic told me it had been in a flooded condition from not burning off the richer fuel from initial startup. He pulled the plugs & sprayed air into the cylinders to clear out the fuel, cleaned and dried the plugs, buttoned it back up & it started right up!!
I hope this may help some of you. I'm very grateful to the forum for helping me save a ton of money I just didn't have at the time...this is the least I can do...hope it helps!!

Another remedy for this is built into the ECU.
[ol][*]Turn the key to pos II[*]Depress the gas pedal to the floor[*]Wait for 30 seconds (pedal still depressed)[*]Crank (key from pos II to pos III)[/ol]It takes about 30+ seconds but it seems to work like a champ.
On a side note you really shouldn't need to start the car every two days to charge the battery. I don't drive my car during the week and have never had a battery issue even in cold weather.

When it sees teh gas pedal all the way down it cuts the fuel off.
