Hi- I'm new to this forum, but a brief search of threads didn't mention anything about a problem that I've encountered and I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this?

I have a low mileage 2008 C30 that recently threw off it's timing belt. The dealer told me that the a tensioner on the timing belt seized resulting in the timing belt flying off and taking out a cylinder. The result, I need a new engine. Is this a common problem with the C30? Does anyone want to buy an engine-less C30?

I would suggest contacting Volvo Customer Care since it failed way before the replacement interval. It is not common at all.

 

Yes, I did that. Volvo is giving me a discount on a new engine. Sort of frustrating, but the luck of the draw I guess.

 

I'm surprised that's all they are doing to be honest. More than likely, all it needs is a new head and valves.
