Default check engine light - blown fuse - error codes. Problems.

I have a Check Engine light on accompanied by a blown fuse. I attached an OBDII reader and found the following codes. Has anyone else seen this type of problem? Seems like there is either a faulty part or a short. Found blown fuse F35 and cleared the codes but a day later the fuse blew again. I recently had the brakes checked but no other recent work.

Symptoms: when starting, the car no longer idles high for ~30 seconds before settling in. I do hear what sounds like a chirping sound in the vicinity of the alternator, though I don't know if that sound is new. Seems like less power and lower gas mileage. Someone in another thread said that was a sign of oil trap problems? I'm not driving it much. Probably have put on about 40 miles since the problem started.

Any help is definitely appreciated.

You probably need a new breather box

Yep. See that electrical connector? That's a heating element that gets shorted and pops the fuse. You can disconnect yours in the meantime if you'd like.

Good to know. Can you confirm that I would need to drain the oil before replacing this part? I read that somewhere but wasn't sure if it was true.

thanks!

You do not need to drain the oil, but some will come out. Loosen the filter to allow the housing the drain into the block as much as possible. The housing comes with a new filter so good time to change the oil as well.
