Question New 2008 Owner, need parts already :(

Just purchased and extremely happy with the car! I went to change the light bulbs, easiest bulbs to get to in my life. The problem was the wiring, all of the sheathing on the wires are disintegrating to the touch from connector to body of car to the bulb connector. Before things get too bad, I was going to replace the wiring harness. Seemed easy enough when I said it :/ Trying to find a complete wiring harness for this thing has become a challenge. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find one or anyone tried to rewire from scratch have any nuggets of wisdom? Thanks!

I may have something at home. It's for an S60 but I will check to see if the insides are similar. If you rewire from scratch, try to match wire colors or at least keep them different. If possible, do one section at time and write down where each wire goes on a piece of paper for each connector.

The harness on the bottom left might work for you. It’s for H9&H11 headlight and high beam. See how it compares to yours

Not quite, the main adapter in the c30 has clips on the side to secure it versus in the front and probably the harness connecting to the car is different. Appreciate you looking though!

How in the name of Josias J Witness did the wiring get like that??? ...How many miles are on the car?
I've got a 2009 and the wiring was like new when I pulled the headlights off to polish the clear plastic lenses with UV damage. You might want to do the same while you have the headlight assy's apart. The Sylvania brand works real good, like new.

I have no idea. We just got the car a little over a month ago! I pulled the headlights out to clean them and to replace a light bulb and the wiring was just disintegrating. I purchased some wiring tape to wrap them. I haven't done that project yet. Apparently there is not a wiring harness that it is a direct replacement for all the wires. The only other option is a $400 brand new headlight. Searching around I noticed there were other people posting pictures of wiring that looks like mine for that model year.

What I would do (if it were me...and it often is) just pick up a few small spools of the right gauge (important) and basic wire colors from Ace Hardware or Home Depot and snip one wire at a time (important) and simply leave a 1/2" bare wire end at the connection points and connector points, and simply solder each connection, and wrap any bare spots with electrical tape. A bit time consuming...maybe...but less that 1/4 the cost (and aggravated searching) for the correct wiring harnesses. Jeeeese...I wonder if you should check the tail light harnesses too....I mean I really can't understand how this happened...I've heard of rats, mice, and particularly squirrels eating auto wiring...but that's under the hood where they can get up into the engine bay...but this is just plain bizarre.
