Trip Computer ???

Trip Computer ???
Hi New UK Member here
Am I missing something ???
A work colleague of mine has just bought a 2008 Volvo C30 Diesel 1.6D R DESIGN Sport but there is no Trip Computer on his stalk.
He has the turn wheel as on my stalk which displays the trip read out such as mpg, distance left in tank, distance travel ect.
But on his it only shows DSTC on/off .Does this have to be activated by Volvo or am I missing something here.
He's been driving me mad saying it's driving him mad as he would like to be able to see how the fuel perforemace is ect.
Whilst on the subject of fuel what should he be expecting to get ie. motorway 65? urban 45? average 55?
Am I missing something ???

Turns out there's some dealers who will install with VIDA for less. I brought a receipt showing another person's install for about $90 US. They matched it but weren't too happy about it. I gave them a lashing about how my semi-luxury car had half the standard options of the same year Feista...
