I just recently did a head gasket job on my 2000 volvo c70. Car started up great. Sounds better than it has since ive owned it. Since jan 2017. I do believe someone sold me there problem. But anyway. I have an oil leak that i cant seem to find. It looks to be coming from behind timing belt cover. Not on timing belt tho. Any ideas? Also have white smoke coming from my oil dipstick. Ive heard of the glove test. But not sure exactly what the glove is suppose to do. Any help is greatly appreciated

 

Your original post was in the forum issues board (ie problems with the forum not problems with cars) so you probably got very few fews. I've moved the post to the C70 board for you. That said, under the timing cover sits the two cam seals and the front main seal. On newer(2000+) Volvos, there's also the VVT control which can leak as well. If you have smoke from the dipstick, it could be a sign of positive crank case pressure due to a clogged PCV system. If you put a surgeon's glove over the oil filler inlet and it inflates, it means the blow-by gasses are not going back into the intake and are building pressure in the crankcase. This can push out oil seals and cause leaks so best to have it repaired asap. Replacing the PCV system requires lifting off the intake manifold so expect about $250 in parts and about 3-4 hours shop time ($600-700 total), not counting fixing any cam seals or crank seals that may be leaking.
