2004 C70 noise with slight left turn
Hi - I've recently (May 2011) purchased a 2004 HPT C70 with a 5 speed manual. Took awhile to find one with a stick...but have very much enjoyed the car. I've appreciated reading this forum as I've gotten to know the car's quirks (visor that has broken, noisy window when it is lowered, etc., shabby looking seat...)
Here's a question - recently my car has begun to make a noise in the front passenger wheel when I turn slightly (not during hard turns) to the left - at slower speeds (~30mi./hr) - not at highway speed. It is just loud enough to hear ... rhythmic rubbing sound. I've brought it to my local shop that specializes in VWs/Volvos but they are not sure what it is - first thought was to explore by replacing the hub but that will be an expensive exploration. They were saying if it is not the hub it could be something in the axle.
Any other ideas? Very recently the same shop did a great job for me in eliminating a much nastier creaking sound when I did hard turns into the garage...or a parking spot. They lubricated the front end but told me they would likely need to redo this every 10K miles or so given it is just something the car is prone to.
Other info on the car - it is at 93K miles.
thanks for any guesses you might have.
