Default 2009 C70 PCV Replacement

Greetings all,

Need your help with this, my 2009 C70 has started the much reported "whistle" while idling which points to a needed PCV breather kit replacement (Part #: KIT-L5PCVKIT). After calling around the local Volvo repair shops and getting an average quote of $500 for parts and labor, one shop said that there was an upgraded version of the part which isn't likely to break down like the Genuine issued part and quoted me $1,550 for the parts and labor. I've been searching around online for this 'upgraded" kit and couldn't find anything. Is this place yanking my chain or is there such a part out there?

Also, should I just have the whole thing done with genuine parts or shift over to this supposed upgraded part?

I've never heard of an "upgraded" one. Ask them for the part number.

Sorry, put the wrong word in. It was an "updated" part but I will ask for the part number on the morrow.

The one from Volvo is updated. I'm betting they are ripping you off.
