3 hr Spark plugs with a twist.
While I was changing the plugs on my 2000 C70 conv. I found oil completely covering the plug in the second plug cavity from the left. I'm not sure how it worked its way in here....the others were dry exceptthe first plugwhich was loose and was covered in black goo. Any idea how oil could get in andfill this up? I'm worried the head may be leaking.

Yeah that'll cause a misfire or two. If the valve cover gaskets are leaking oil will get in there that way. Also the oil filler cap gasket could leak some oil out, but i think it would stay more near the middle plugs. If i'm wrong someone please tell me, but this is a VERY common problem on BMW engines. I had to clean a little bit of it out when i changed the plugs in my g/f's C70 HT.
I will check on the oil filler gasket but i don't know to check the vent....however, my valve cover is leaking a bit in the rear.
Thanks for the responses!! [sm=smiley20.gif]

I just checked the orafice and it is bone dry. I believe it is a collection of oil from a few sloppy oil changes. I will recheck it right before my next oil change and right after. Thanks for the response!!
