Default Alternator died in less than a year!

I have a 99 C70 and I replaced the alternator less than a year ago. This weekend my car died, and the mechanic says I need a new battery and alternator. I live in Las Vegas, and I've heard stories about alternators dying here all the time, with all the heat here in Nevada. Can somebody shed some light on this? Thank you so much!

Did you buy an OEM alt. or an aftermarket one?

Hi tech, you always come to the rescue. The Volvo dealership replaced it (with I assume an OEM). Thanks.

Ok if it is less than 12 months or 12,000 miles it is still under warranty with the Dealer.

If it is over then have your Tech replace the Voltage regulator only. I think that even from the Dealer they are around $100.00 for the part rather than $300.00-$400.00 for a new Alt.
