During the first month of owning my new C70 the top was not fully latching and a very load alarm went off when car in motion and message on dash said something like 'do not drive car, not latched...' This happened when I was 300 miles from home. I stopped at dealer and they had no clue. When I got home I went to dealer and they went thru testing and replaced retaining clips. On way home the alarm went off again. I also noticed a clicking noice near top of windshield so I figured it was some sort of latching noice. I decided to have car towed to dealer and they kept car and had engineer from plant with good knowledge of hardtop check out. They ended up replacing 2 hydraulic cylinders on top of windshield that locks out (they noted on paperwork that hydraulic cylinder was leaking). This incident was quite a inconvenience and was looked at by many mechanics that had no clue. Hopefully this experience I described will save someone else the headache. I went with the 100k mile warranty extension when I bought car as there is alot of cylinders, wires, etc that can go wrong with top. On a side note I also ended up having brake master cylinder replaced thru warranty as my brake pad was going to floor. I enjoy car otherwise as my top is down 90% of time.

I am having the same problem and just posted didn't see your post first. I tried doing the fix that is in the manual, but the top closure stopped with the windows still down slightly, so I don't think it has latched, even though the message reads top fully up and nothing happens when I press the close top button. I live 3 hours from the nearest dealer and I can't drive this thing... I am 3 weeks out of warranty. Great car, otherwise
