On the new motor it did the same thing! WTF?!?!?!
The price I pay for not buying american
i will post the ALL data for the car on this forum. Doesn't seem to have a lot of techs onboard...

IF you has the accessory bracket (that's what its called) break off, you are doing something wrong. That thing is a 1 inch thick piece of metal. Held on with 7 bolts as I recall.
Those manuals are junk -- just rip out the specifications pages and save yourself the hassel of figuring out what they are talking about.
These Volvos are simple and the engine bays are organized.
Drop the entire sub frame. You will save yourself about 5 hours of work.

I use any manual for a basic reference. My exception mechanical comprehension hasn't failed me on any vehicle, fighter jet, attack jet, helicopter or transport aircraft new or old! Having 3 large tool boxes loaded with tools has helped. Excellent tools make every job easier. Mechanical, electrical or electronic issues are always interesting. Last project put a Dodge Magnum dash & a Viper V-10 in a Dodge Dokata for a client, 9 months of work. Now running around Biloxi, Miss.

In Alldata/other manuals thats also the engine lifting point. I am not a volvo tech but nothing was done incorrectly when moving the engine. The bracket snapped off and the front of the engine dropped on my fender. Its a CAST bracket thats no more then 1/4 inch thick (pics to follow)
Completely agree. I was hoping someone had a OEM manual in a PDF or something on here before I riped into the car.
I didnt have to

yes it is the engine lift point, however something else was wrong if all 7 bolts holding that bracket on broke. Unless I misunderstood stood you and the aluminium actually snapped. I have never seen that happen before, but I don't rule out poor casting.
These cars you don't really need a manual for, everything is in a organized fashion unlike other makes. I look at the engine bay and divide it into grids and layers and picture it 3 dimensionally in my head. I can do that with just about anything.
@ MSG: I have built race cars from scratch. Welded together frames from lengths of chro-molly, and a ton more. I fully understand the "custom" stuff. Sounded like quite a task. Did you do just the dash or the entire interior? Viper seats in a Dakota...that be pretty cool.
