Always keep a door key in a magnetic key holder attached to the back of the license plate. Called Volvo dealer and have to offer up first born son and $70 to get it .

See that blade part of key is available on Ebay and local key shop says they can cut it. Anyone ever buy this off of Ebay? Any problems.

 

you didn't mention which year/ model. On most models, even the blade key is coded to the car or else anybody could clone your key making the security system somewhat useless unless you simply want to get into the car but not start it...

 

Sorry --year is a 2007 C70. We lock leys in cars more often than I care to tell. Just want the blade key hidden on the car to get us into the car only. Not start it!

 

what you may want to do is check in with a Volvo dealer parts store like Tasca Parts to see what they ask for a replacement key w/o programming.

 

Well got the 2 "cheap" key blanks off of Ebay. Size was just .003 in. off of the original size. First locksmith destroyed a blank. Second got it done but blade key would only unlock the door and not lock it?????? Since I only want it to unlock to get at ignition keys inadvertently locked in the car, that is fine with me. $25 total cost saved me from the $70 that the closest Volvo Dealership wanted. (Youngstown-Warren Ohio dealership dropped Volvo).

Question on keys. My '07 C70 says that there is a back-up fuel door release using the valet key in the center console. There is absolutely no place to insert a key anywhere in the console. Does anyone know of a back-up release point that didn't get printed in the manual?

 

locksmith that has destroyed the blank was a specialized auto locksmith or any local locksmith. Please let me know.

 

local locksmith destroyed the blade. More proficient locksmith with Volvo programming got the blade to unlock the door but not lock it. was fine with me as I only wanted it to get in the car when keys were locked inside the car.
