Default BOV

Okay so i was looking to get a C70 but an older gen one before 2005 i was wondering what BOVs people were putting on and how they were working out. I was looking for the loud wooosh sound and if i install a BOV do i need to make any mods to piping to make it fit. Any thoughts on HKS SSq or Greddy S-type.

Welcome.

The two you mentioned are pretty good. These are supposed to be really good.
The only thing you need to do is get the BOV flange welded to the IC piping.
Also, you can install a cone filter to hear the stock CBV.

1. Welcome to the forum.

2. HKS SSQV is what I would get and what most people install.

3. A BOV will make you run rich for that split second it goes off.

4. You need to attach it with an Aluminum flange to your upper intercooler pipe. That is if your Upper IC pipe is Aluminum and not plastic. Then you just run your vacuum line.

5. You wont gain any performance, all you will gain is the sound and if that is all you want then go for it. Or like the last poster suggested slap a cone filter on there and you can hear the OEM CBV.

Please calm down. Your not always going to get a response in 1 minute or 5 days after you post something. Please be patient and wait for a response.

1. CBV

"A compressor bypass valve (CBV), also known as a compressor relief valve or diverter valve, is a vacuum-actuated valve designed to release pressure in the intake system of a turbocharged car when the throttle is lifted or closed. This air pressure is re-circulated back into the non-pressurized end of the intake (before the turbo) but after the mass airflow sensor."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve

A CBV is what is on your turbo right now. It comes stock on the Volvo's.

2. A cone filter in and of itsself will not mess up your MAF. What can mess up your MAF is some of the following.

- Oil. If you over oil the cone filter it can mess up the MAF. Simple solution don't over oil, or buy an oilless cone filter.

- Some cone filters use foam and it can degrade and flake away. Simple solution don't buy one of these types of filters made with foam.

sorry about that .....and thanks for the reply....so don't get an oil or foam based filter....one more thing, are the more expensive filters that much better than the generic? does it make a substantial difference?

I got a spectre filter at autozone for $25. It works really good and I have had no problems in the last few months.
Price doesnt mean it is a good filter. They are pretty much all ~$30-$50.
There is nothing wrong with Oil filters. You just have to be carefull when re-oiling them.
If you want a dry filter then get an AEM filter.
