Default C70 2008 dimples in convertible panels

I just received a brand new 2008 C70 and I noticed that the 2 roof panels and the trunk panel have 7 or 8 bumps or dimples in them which are visible when the light reflects against the car. The Volvo dealer is telling me that this is a known issue to which Volvo does not yet have a fix and seems to be reluctant to wanting to change the 3 panels, as he claims that the dimples will simply come back on the new panels.

It seems as if something has pushed against the convertible panels from the inside causing them to stretch and protrude into these small bumps or dents.

Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone tell me whether this is in fact a common issue and whether there is a known VSB for this and how to get it repaired?

thanks

Did you ask the dealer if their were any SB's on it? If not, ask. And get a copy of it. Does he have any others in stock? Check them also. Another thing to make sure of is if he made an official entry on the work (RO)order. Then you have proof you made a complaint! Also if you take this to the point of a "Lemon Law" issue. You will need verification you reported it. And they have no fix for it. Tom

Are you talking aboutdimples in the sheet metal of the roof panels and trunk lid? I have heard about depressions in the plastic piece that extends out from the trunk lid to cover up behind the rear seats (caused by the roof pieces that are stacked over it when the top is down). And I've also seen one or two people who have had little paint chips on the rear-most roof (rear window) panel, on both sides, again presumably occurring while things are stacked in the trunk. But yours is the first post I've read about dimples in the sheet metal (or at least that is what it sounded like).

I'm not sure I buy the "there's no solution" statement - it may be tricky to make sure that the roof mechanism is adjusted right, but it seemslike it ought to be possible.

Actually, I've had no problems of any kind with the roof of my 2007, but maybe I've just been lucky so far... In any case, I don't think that all cars have these problems.

Yes indeed, dimples in the sheet metal. Thanks guys for the advice. I will definitely ask for a record from Volvo to prove that I brought this issue to their attention. I will also try to get the SB number. I brought the car back in and they will have one of the Volvo technical experts look at it who happens to be dropping to inspect a different car. I should know what his recommendation is by tomorrow. I will let you know.
