Hi can anyone help. I have just bought a C70 coupe 2.3 turbo.When I drove it gently it was fine, whenI accelerated harder I lostdrive & reverse.I would have to stop turn off engineleave the car for 10 minutes start up drive again. I had it scanned for faults and nothing was recorded in the ecu. I changed the gearbox and still the same happens only it is worse now. Any suggestions would be great. Something has to be wrong with the electronics or something like that.
The transmission computer should have codes in it.

 

Yes, as tech said, there is a separate control unit for the transmission, which is different than the main engine control unit. When you said that you "lost" drive and reverse, I would interpret this to mean that both drive and reverse were behaving like neutral, with no coupling of engine to the drive wheels? The fact that this comes and goes does imply something with the transmission control unit or computer, although I'm sure there are multiple possibilities.

You also said that you "changed the gearbox". Did you really get a new or rebuilt transmission installed? If so, and if it made no difference in the problem you were experiencing, I would think you'd have a significant beef with the shop that did this work, if for no other reason than a lack of proper diagnosis of the real problem, not to mention a large $ outlay that didn't fix the problem. Although I guess that you have effectively ruled out a large percentage of the possible problems, by wholesale replacement of the transmission. (Or did I just interpret your e-mail wrong? Such as, you meant that you changed the gearbox fluid, and not the actual gearbox?)

No I have actually changed the gearbox itself. I have also changed the Transmission control unit as well.

It appears that it loosestransmission fluid pressure!

But what were the codes?

There has to be something cutting power somewhere to one of the soleniods to stop the fluid flow when it happens.
