Volvo V40 Auto Gearbox

Hi

Just bought a Volvo V40 without a handbook.

I am not overly familiar with autos

It has an Auto box,could anyone please tell me what 3 and L mean?

L is for 1st and 2nd Gear.
3 is for 3rd if you wanted to shift it almost like a manual.

But just use drive.

Starts the car off in 3rd gear for traction like in snow.
