Straight down into the transmission tunnel when I pushed the switch to lower the top. Now the switch is way down nearly out of reach. How can I fish the switch out and reattach it? Or do I need to disassemble the center console? It is a 2009 and at the edge of its warranty, so if it is a big deal, I can have the dealer with it. Meanwhile, it's a chilly ride this week...

 

I would say that it should be relatively easy to take off the console cover but at the same time I would take it to the dealer especially if it is still covered under the active warranty.
