C70 I gen - which engine to choose
Hi,
I'm planning to become proud owner of C70 I gen. Since there is a range of engines to choose I would like to ask for your advice which one to choose? Which I should avoid (if any)? What is real fuel consumption since most opinions on the net is outdated and may not apply to ~ 10 years old car.
Pros/cons will be appreciated
I believe that if I would buy it with my heart it would be 2.3 T5 but..... would like to know your thought on it.
Since it may be important - I'm planning to but auto gearbox.

I don't think the 2.3L comes with an automatic transmission option. So if you really want auto tranny, you'll end up with the 2.4 LPT. My girlfriend has a 2.4 and I have a 2.3, and I have to say, the 2.4 really is underpowered....the car feels pretty slow. As far as fuel consumption, the manual 2.3 and the auto 2.4 are about the same. So my advice in a nutshell, go for 2.3L manual! Better power without sacrificing anything (except having to drive stick).

If you want pure power then go for the T5 2.3 240bhp with man gearbox.
I have the 2.4 200 bhp with the auto box. It picks up well for overtaking but is not a sports car its a cruiser. Even with 200 bhp the chassis is feeling near its limit.
Depends what you want. As a GT cruiser the 5 speed auto is super smooth and relaxing to drive.
As far as fuel comp I don't think there is a lot between the 2.0, 2.3 and 2.4 Turbo. I get 25 mpg around town and 28 on B roads.
