I just bought a 2004 C70 convertible which seems like a lot of fun, even though summer is 5 or 6 months away. The Scuttle Shake, while well documented, is quite noticeable. When I asked the dealer about it, he said it's normal... as I said, it's well documented. In any case, I asked him to double check tie-rod ends, ball joints, etc, just to be sure there is nothing else going on and he said everything is perfect (of course).

A few of questions:

1. What's the best way to know if the shake I am feeling is entirely scuttle shake and not a symptom of something else.

2. Is there any aftermarket modification available for the C70 which will minimize this? (Stiffer shocks? heavier sway bars or suspension components? tires? it currently has 4 brand new Pirelli P6 225/45 R17)

3. Does Scuttle Shake cause the tires to wear more quickly or unevenly than normal?

4. Does anyone know a performance / speed shop in the Portland Maine area that would be best to make sure balance and alignments is absolutely perfect or, perhaps make suggestions for improving handling and performance?
