Default C70 Soft Top - Care and Feeding

I recently bought a 2004 convertible C70 which is in exceptional shape and I'd like to keep it that way. The question is how do I take care of the soft top?

I'd like to be able to take the car through a car wash, especially in the winter to make sure all road salt is removed from the undercarriage but I am afraid car washes will be too harsh on the roof.

Also, are there recommended care products or procedures for the roof?

Thanks

The c70 manual recommends NO carwash for the convertible. Use a mild detergent and brush from front to back, then rinse with hose. If you keep your C70 outside, Volvo sells an unbelievably protective cover for aroun $330; keeps dampness out and doesn't let water in; has great UV protection.

Great, thanks.

I keep the car in a garage, but I'm mostly worried about the road salt in the undercarriage. If you can't go through a car was (even a brushless one) how do you make sure you get all the road salt out. If you don't you're just asking for rust.

Thoughts, anyone?

I don't like drive thru car washes and wash my vehicles by hand, but take to self cleaning car washes in winter when needed. No rust yet! Volvos are undercoated for winter weather protection. I ensure I spray off all wheel wells real good during winter snow area driving.
