Collapsing Oil Filter

Collapsing Oil Filter
The last two times I changed the oil in my car I have found an oil filter that is collapsed. The first time was much worse than this time. I have pictures of the filter I pulled last night.
2000 C70, manual, 2.3L. Car has 125k. I run Castrol Edge full synthetic 10w-30. I change oil every 7k miles. This change had about 6,500 miles.
THe first time this happend i had my oil tested by blackstone labs and the results were great. They suggested I try running 9k miles between changes based on the condition of my oil. All my numbers were lower than the tested averages of other similar cars.
Blackstone mentioned it could be a sticky bypass valve on the car... has anyone had similar issues?
Has anyone replaced a bypass valve?
Has anyone installed an aftermarket oil guage? Where did you tap in?
Thanks in advance.
