Default 2008 conv top malfunctioning

Rolling out of my garage with the topup, I started to get an awful beep and a message to stop the car, followed by a "top malfunction check manual" message. The top seemed fine, and I had driven it recently since the last time the top was down with no problem. Anyway, the manual says to press one of the two top operation buttons, release it, then hold the button down again for 5 seconds until the operation startsand to hold it down until the operation finishes. Did that. Top stopped halfway open and the malfunction messagecame on again!!. Held the button down again for a long time, and it finally sort of closed, except the windows stayed partly down and I didn't get that "sealed" noise, so I don't think it is actually fully closed. However, the malfunction message is gone, the dash message says "top fuly closed" and nothing happens if I hold the top close button down. I didn't want to close the windows with the window button, in casethe topisn't fully closed. I called the dealer service, but they haven't called me back. I live 120 miles from the nearest dealer, and the carisn't drivable this way. I wouldn't drive it a mile with that top malfunction alarm it is really a piercing one.Any suggestions? I heard on older models it's possible to close the top more tightly manually does anybody know if it's possible on a 2008?

Not sure if related problem. I bought a 07 C70 last year and within a month my alarm/message light went off on the top(you are right about the piercing sound of alarm). This happen maybe 3-4 times ind different cities. I didn't drive much with this problem and had 3 dealers look at problem with not much success. The final time I had car towed and would not take it back until fixed. They send a technician from factory to look into problem. The problem finally was fixed when they replaced the hydraulic cylinders above windshield that lock top to window frame. They noted on paperwork that the one cylinder was leaking. I have not had any problem for over a year. Good luck.
