Default convertible roof got stuck open today

I was enjoying a top down cruise in my c 70 today until I went to park it. I pressed the button to put the top up and the trouble started. The cover for the top went up almost all the way then stopped I pressed the button again and the cover opened all the way but the top would not come out of the storage area. I pulled up on it until it worked when I pushed the button. The top went all the way to the closed position. The cover closed and latched the rear part of the top went down but the latch in the cover that sucks it in was already latched. About 20 minutes of fiddling got the latches in to the mechanism and pressing the button sucked the back of the top down. The bell dinged and the windows went up.

Recently before this happened the car has been flashing the top light and dinging at me. I was able to resolve this by simply opening the top and closing it or shutting off the car and restarting and pressing the close button. I don't know if these 2 items are related.

I am very mechanical (fix cars for a living) seems like this is a micro switch issue to me motors all seem strong no binding possible calibration issue????
I have not come across this exact problem in my search of problems with these cars. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine was in the front motor I have it a tap and the roof closed for me. I have been able to cycle the roof without issue since I did that.
