DIY 2006 C70 Air Cabin Filter Replacement
Fellow Volvo friends,
I wanted to change out my own cabin air filter and realized after a few searches, it might be somewhat complicated. I could not find any photos that outlined the steps, hence this post.
Hopefully, everyone can follow this set of instructions. I am not an auto mechanic but somewhat of a DIY person.
Here it goes:
Remove the panel under the steering wheel. There are 3 torque screws (somewhat highlight in the photo). The panel is also held on by some clips that pretty easily came undone. There is a light attached to the underside. It was easier for me to unclip the light from the cord. Just remember to connect it back when you are putting it back together.
There is also the soundproof panel behind the radio that I ended up removing which made things easier. There are just a few clips.
After these are removed I could see and reach all 3 bolts that hold on the accelerator pedal. I think I used a 10mm socket for them. Once those were off I disconnected the clip that holds it on.
Next I located 2 screws I think were 7mm that held on the cabin air filter cover (on the right side of the accelerator pedal).
Reach in and pull out the air filter pulling it to the left.
Put the new filter in with the air flow pointing out towards the back of the car.
Now put everything back in reverse order.
It was a pain but not too bad if you see the pics of how to do it. Hopefully, this helps those who prefer to save some money and do it themselves. I hear even the Volvo techs hate this job as there is no good way of doing this without being a contortionist.
