Default Engine System Service Required and AC compressor

A few months ago I got the Engine System Service Required message for about a week and then it went away. It came back yesterday and it seemed to coincide with the AC Compressor going out for a little while. The AC compressor reengaged after about 2 minutes. Could these be related and does anyone have any insight on this? I'm hoping the ESS message just goes away again but the AC going out is a problem. Thanks.

Engine system service means there is a self diagnostic code stored - use a compatible scan tool to find out what code/s are stored and go from there.

AC- what exactly happens? It stops being cold? A common problem in warmer weather is the clutch gap becomes too large from wear and the clutch will stop engaging after it gets hot.

Yes, it stops being cold for a few minutes. I had the compressor replaced 2 years ago so I don’t think it’s wear and tear.

Then several other things can cause that. Evaporator temp sensor, and outside air temp sensor can shut the compressor off if sending the wrong value. Scan with a compatible scan tool and you should be able to check what signals are being sent. Also the CCM can store codes also.
