My 1999 C-70 seems to think the driver's door is not closed. I had the problem intermittently for
some time and had to keep opening and closing the door until it quit. Now the problem has gotten
to where it is constant. The only dealer is an hour away and I would like to try to fix it myself. Has
anyone experienced this problem before? Thanks in advance for any advice.

 

Sorry to say but the door latch assembly is bad.
Other bad part is that will be be expensive to replace as well.
The entire window assembly will have to come out to replace it.

 

Thanks Tech, is this a dealer only issue or can a local import shop fix it?

 

Some will work on them and others won't.
The Dealer will be about 4 hours labor plus the price of the part.

Is there a 'wire' that can be snipped to defeat "the bad part"?

 

Only it the lock assembly was removed. Which after that much labor you would want to replace anyway.
