Default Is my dealership lying to get my money?

Hi,

I own a C70 2002 convertible. Yesterday my garage door started closing as I was backing out the car, and bent the antenna.

I called the dealership and they say that when the mast bends, they need to replace the whole assemply, including the motor, and it comes to almost $400!!

However, I did a quick eBay search and found that there's a company (Antenna Masts R US) who sellsreplacement masts for $21, with instructions for how toinstall it. Here's the link on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volvo...mZ370075844162

So... is the dealership not telling the truth?

Has anyone had any experience replacing the antenna mast for a C70?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

There is something about the C70 they (Dealer) doesn't sell the masts only the entire assembly.

Thanks for the response, but is it possible to replace just the mast? Or would I be throwing away money if I buy the mast off eBay?

Many thanks!

Interesting. When I first purchaced my 02 c70 I failed to note the fact the auto had an antenna.............none of my others did.........and I took it to an auto wash and the rest is history. At any rate, I went to the dealer and the dealer replaced the mast only and not the motor. This dealer also has G.M. products and may well have simply ordered from another source the mast. But to answer the question...........yes, you can change out only the mast.

r.

I'm told that you can. I've watched my brothers change the antenna mast on about every other Volvo, I don't see why a C70 would be any different.
