Steering Wheel Wobble - A money pit - Help!
I have been batteling front end problems ever since I slid into a curb around 30 mph a year ago. Insurance company paid for all the damage. The shop replaced RF tie rod, RF tie rod end, RF spindle, steering rack, RF rim, RF tire. The steering immediatly had a vibration in it so the shop had the alignment re-checked and rotors balanced. I ended up talking the insurance company into two new tires due to flat spots. This did not solve the problem. I suffered through it for a few months and eventually bought a set of 4 Goodyear F1 Z rated tires. The problem was almost completely gone aside from the slightest vibration most people could not really feel. After a 500 mile road trip the steering wheel started to shake when braking at highway speeds. This got worse and worse and eventually the vibration was constant even at speeds down to 30mph and very bad during braking. I replaced front brakes+rotors and had the tires re-balanced. The problem is still present, but now is only a vibration while driving and decreases during braking. The vibration does not occur below 50mph and varies with road surface. I also noticed abnormal wear to the RF tire. The edges of the tread pattern are rounded off and not nice and square like the other 3. I have had the new tires for less than 4k miles.
Any ideas??
Thanks!

I would bring it to an independent frame shop. One that specializes in frame work! Not one that does everything. They are out there. You might have to search for one. Also contact your insurance co.. Get them involved more. The damage might be more extensive. Tom
