Default Need help in deciding!!!

Hi, In advance I want to thank you all for any opinions>

So I'am about to buy a 98 c70 from the private seller. The odometer is close to 89k. owner want to sell this car for about 4200 (friend price). I know that the timing belt was replaced, not sure about transmission fluid. I am the person that drives from point a to b-calm driver. I need to know if this car will run for me for aprox another 90 k with no MAJOR problems.

Dilemmas:

Transmission fluid probably wasnt changed

the Engine light comes out for like a minute and then turns of ( is that normal in this car or what?)

Repair costs

Thank you again for replying and giving any suggestions

I'm a new owner of a 2000 C70 coupe and I can say that a lot of little stuff will need to be addressed going forward. It seems that after 8 - 10 years all of the rubber parts need to be replaced. Also, I have a coupe but my guess is an 11 year old convertible will need new seals and possibly a new top soon.

That is probably the oil change reminder if it says "SERVICE" on the light. It needs reset. On my 98 V70, I reset it holding the trip odometer reset.

The car should be fine as long as the oil was changed regular.

The transmission fluid is easy to replace, just DON'T take off the attachment at the radiator, you don't need to. Leave the car on the ground, simply open and close the drain plug five times or so, adding about 2.5 quarts each time. I used 15 quarts to flush, synthetic. The change in performance was phenomenal. I'd also change out the fuel filter right away if I were you. The timing belt will need to be done 60,000 to 70,000 after the last one, with all new pulleys and water pump. That seems far off on this one. I also use 100% synthetic oil in the crankcase, that turbo needs the best lube available.
