Default Oil line burst! Now I cant crank it even by hand!

Just had work done to car, (new radiator, new oil dipstick and dipstick tube, etc..) 25 miles after taking it from shop I am driving it a decently steep incline and I hear a squeeking noise and I notice that I am losing power, no check engine lights or any warning lights had come on by this point. I putted up to the top of the hill where I knew I could coast down closer to my home, and the engine shut down automatically. We replaced the bursted oil line and now it wont crank, even by hand on the crankshaft, oil was spewed all over the serpentine belt into the alternator and compressor area, which could have caused some type of failure of something in the pulley system .... I lost 2 qts total in this ordeal, but from the time of initial incident to the engine shutting down was approx 30 seconds. I did not realize that an oil line had burst I thought a belt was loose, so foolishly I got it to the top of the mountain where I could coast down to a local garage. I am preparing myself for the worst outcome, but hopefully this is fixable. Any input on what may have happened? If the pistons seized due to this I have no idea as to the cost and direction I take to fix it, hopefully its only a bearing the got shot out from the oil . Let me know any ideas you may have. If worst comes to worst I will need information on purchasing a brand new crate T5 motor, but it needs to be produced in Sweden, none of the other junk. Thanks.

Sounds to me like the engine seized. If you can't turn it over by hand chances are it is seized.

Motor is in fact Julius Seizer. I think the lower block needs replaced, maybe more. Well, it has to be done, the c70 will rise again.

Keep us posted.

If you have spare money tucked away do some research and try to find a set of cams and stuff like that and you can upgrade at the same time.

TECH, I would be leery of boosting the power if ARB has an auto transmission...............I can see that going next!!! Incidently and for what it is worth, the Volvo club magazine just affirmed Volvo's extension of ETM warranty to 200,000 miles or 10 years!

I thought it was to 100,000 miles maybe I was missinformed.

Eventually the trans will go out why not just help it a little then make it stronger.

Have you searched the internet for a complete motor? When my 94 850 Turbo quit at 206,000, I was able to find several motors at reasonable prices. I chose to sell the car for salvage, but in hinsight I would replace the motor.

Nope, it's 200,000 miles or 10 years............also in Canada. Volvo is also providing a free ETM software upgrade which will be available in March 2006. Volvo will also reimburse owners who have paid for replacement or repair. Incidently I just came back from South West Florida (Sanibel Island).................nice and warm! I envy you in the winter time, TECH!

I was only in Fla for a week. Up 'till two years ago I would spend five weeks on Sanibel...............did that since 1980. Those were good times! I am in Fla. quite a bit but doing trial work and so I truly have no spare time. This Sunday as you are watching the Super Bowl I'll be flying to New Jersey to start another trial. Drink a brew for me...............and pity me!

No this is a 5 speed manual, modified by Karerra Motorsports in West Palm Beach, mods too many to list.
This is rare becaue I've never seen a 5 speed C70 except ones with S-titles.

I am running a Greddy computer with a PFS (Peter Ferrell Supercars) mods. I have a brand new rebuilt turbo which was ported and modded for quicker throttle response. Ohlins 16 way adjustable coil overs int he front, EST Rip kit, Upgraded EST Intercooler (downpipe and new 3' turbo-back exhaust in my plans, also I am building a water misting system to spritz my intercooler) Sachs racing tranny, new rubber hoses all around motor, uprgraded plugs and wires, upgraded 302mm brake rotor conversion, upper/lower front/rear sway bars, roll bar, OZ Superturismo wheels, front end is off a 97 850R

We are dropping the motor on Wed and I am looking into steel braided lines all around also pistons/camshafts. Since the motor will be torn down we might as well do it right. 22 lbs of boost is a lot of fun and I cant wait to get it back. Will racing pistons and cams make a worthy difference? I will keep you updated as I hear more later in the week. If possible I would like information or a contact who knows about modded cams and pistons for this 2.3L T5. This is a unique car and theres no way im getting rid of it, im going to make it ridiculous. Thanks Tech.

http://www.volvomotorsports.com/volv...x.php?cPath=24

Check out this site. You might also want to contact them and see if they have more that the site says.

I had another link but somehow lost it.

Do you live in West Palm?

Where in West Palm was that shop.

I used to live there about 5 Years ago.

In my opinion the racing Cams and pistons would make a dig difference.
I have never seen one with them but I have seen a Car with a lot of head work done.

It was a Guy who Plays for the Miami Dolphins. He had a Racing Company in Georga Redo about Half of the engine and turbo. The Top speed was Maxed out at 170 MPH.
