Default Oil under throttle body?

For about a month or two now there has been some oil leaking out of what appears to be the throttle body (although that doesn't make any sense to me) and onto the intake pipe. It's leaking very very slowly, so it's not a big deal, but I was just wondering if anyone here knows what it could be leaking out of.

could possibly be oil low-by from the turbo seals. check inside your intercooler pipes for oil residue or be absolutely sure the oil is coming from the TB. see if something else close that carries oil isn't leaking on it.

Oh, yeah, checked inside of the pipe from intercooler to TB and it's got oil in it. So turbo seals are the problem?

If the vent system is clogged it will pump oil into the system.

Thanks Tech, I didn't see your first post before i posted. This seems to be more likely (and quite a bit less expensive) then turbo seals. I'm assuming I would need to replace the PCV oil trap, any advice on best way to do it?

Remove the intake manifold to make the job easier and replace all the related hose/lines to the oil trap along with the trap.

Alright thanks, hopefully i'll get to it next weekend. Also, is it necessary to replace the hoses and lines to the oil trap or is it possible to just clean them out?

It really depends on how bad they are.

Alright, I finally got around to fixing it, I only replaced the oil trap, as it seemed the hoses were in decent condition, getting to that oil trap was quite a pain in the *** though. In any case, it fixed my problem, no more oil around the throttle body and no smoke at the dipstick.

Thanks for the help guys!

My 01 V70 non-turbo was having similar symptoms, so I pulled the oil trap/hoses tonight. I could easily blow threw any of the pipes/oil trap and didn't seem to have any constriction. Am I missing something?

Non turbo? There is a flame trap on that.

Where would I find it? I've got 4 hoses from the oil trap. 1 to the valve cover, 2 to the block and 1 to the intake man (opposite the throttle body).

Is that cylindrical appendage on the top of my trap the flame trap?

The 01 V70 Non-turbo does not have a flame trap. But did you check the Bango fitting that was screwed to the bottom of the intake?

I'm not seeing it? The vacuum lines near the TB were clear.

OK that one did not have the Bango fitting. It is usually under the intake right by the power steering pump. One of the hoses off the vent box have a small line that is hard plastic and rubber ends make sure all that is nice and clear.
