Default Power seat stuck in forward position in 99 C70

The passenger seat on my 99 C70 is stuck all the way forward, and none of the switches are working.

I had tilted the seatback forward to get it to travel along the rail, and when it got all the way to the front it just stopped on its own.

The relay in the fuse box is fine, but none of the motors in the seat seem to be getting power.

First question ... is there a way to slide the seat back without using the power motors? (If I have to ever remove the seat, I can't get to the rail mounting bolts since it's so far forward).

Next question ... what could be wrong if none of the motors are responding? I doubt that the entire switch assembly went bad ... and as I said, the relay in the fuse box is fine.

All I can think of is that there might be a short that is preventing power from getting to the switch, or the 'auto travel' mechanism is locking out the switch somehow ... if that is possible.

Ideas?

Excellent!
I discovered that this is a recurring problem. (As are many problems with Volvos.)

There is a microswitch on the back of the seat, on the outboard side, near the large hinge that the seat back moves on.

A small spring connects this switch to the lever on the side of the seat, and apparently it locks out the motors when the seat is tilted forward.

This spring had broken, and the microswitch was cutting out the motors.

All I had to to was press on it with my finger and I could operate the seat properly!

Now I will look into getting a new spring or making some other fix.

Thanks for the help ... not sure how Ioverlooked it when searching before.
