Default Question about performance

Hi guys, like I said Im new to imports and new to turbos. My issue is. When Im crusing around doing around 30mph and let off the fuel, when I get back on to pass I step on the fuel and nothing really happens, kinda like hesitation then it takes off like a bat out of hell. Is this turbo lag? or Is it something else?

turbo lag is a thing of the past Torkk. it's more correct to say "boost threshhold" which is thetime it takes for you to feel the boost.

the slight hesitation you feel is more than likely the ECU thinking andtranny kicking down to a lower gear for you to pass.

if yopu wanna read an awsome book on turbos "MAXIMUM BOOST" by Corky Bell will clear alot up for you. i read this book like 13 times and built a turbo system from scratch which produced 336WHP in my 97 dodge neon.

prlly both, why not

On a side note, I changed the air filter is wasnt too clean. But, I dont seem to hear the turbo much. How can you tell if the turbo is not working? Is there alot of lost power? I read somewhere the turbo doesnt do it job till about 3000rpm, I felt no difference in power gain at 3k.

what filter did you use? if it's a K&N you should hear something somewhat.

if the turbo wasent working you would definatly know it! your car would be a brick forreal lol. followed by some smoke and oil chunks out of the tail pipes.

i looked at the turbo that comes on these cars and their really small and cute. a T3/T4oe stage 3 or a GT3842R set to 15-17 psiwould fit the bill and wake the car up.
